THE WHIMS OF FAMOUS PEOPLE

Summary:

Brat Pitt and Angelina Jolie came to Madrid with their six children for one day.
They stayed in a very luxory hotel and Angelina asked for: a group of clowns to entretain her children, she didn’t want the room service to go into their room, six nanies...

Opinion:

In my opinion, a couple who were always recognized as a solidary couple spend a lot of money on whims.

I think that they, to become more popular, give a flase image of themselves, for example: when they went to Africa and they helped the poor children and their families, when they give a lot of money to rebuild Haiti or to help associations... But, really they treat you with indifference.

In my point of view, the people who spend a lot of money on unnecesary things are giving themselves a bad image after having done good things.

THREE YEARS LATER, THE COURT CASE OF MARY LUZ

Summary:

The wife of Santiago del Valle confesed on a TV programme that her husband is the killer of Mary Luz and she explained everything.

Fist of all, Santiago del Valle sexualy abused this child who was only five years old and after the threw her body into the river.

Mary Luz parents are very surprised after hearing this woman’s confession.

Opinion:

In my opinion, the parents were very polite and they talked very well on the TV programmes, most of all, the father, Mr. Cortés. This family lives a tragedy because of the death of their daughter and they also have two sons.

In my point of view, all pederasts, including Santiago del Valle, who also sexualy abused this own daughter, should be put in prison forever and they also have to suffer the same as their victims to really know how they felt.

I also think that these people have psycological problems and they have to get a treatment.

The new law anti-tobacco

The Spanish Goverment has passed a new law which says that it is forbidden to smoke in public places.

The majority of people don’t agree with this law. These people are: smokers and the owners of bars.
I undersand them, because they often feel that they are excluded and the owners because they have lost a lot of money for many reasons: because they haven’t a tobacco machine, they have had to transform their bars for smokers and non smokers...

The other people, most of all non smokers, agree with this prohibition, because they think that it’s much better for them and the health of everybody.

The solution that somebody has found are: On the one hand, smokers have decided not to go into the bars, so a lot of bars have to close down and the other bars have bought gas fires, so that smokers can smoke in the street in winter and they don’t feel excluded.

In my opinion, I think that non smokers don’t have to inhale the smoke from smokers. Many people are aganist it, but in other countries this law has been passed and in my point of view this has not a bad reaction in the society, an the contrary in Spain yes.

Oral Presentation

(TRANSCRIPTION)

Hi! My name is Maria and my research Project is about Interior Immigration between 1950 and 1960, in general in Catalonia and in Castelló d’Empúries too.
This phenomen was called “èxode rural” (it means that people leave the country and go to the cities to work in industries).

INTRODUCTION

My aims are:
-To know the causes of immigration
-To know how immigrants lived in their birthplace.
-To know if they adapted well or not in Catalonia.

I chose this topic because I think that it’s an interesting topic to talk and to learn about, but, especially, because my grandparents and my father were one of these families who came to Catalonia in the 60s.

STRUCTURE

The structure of my project is this:
-There is an introduction (where I talk about my aims)
-There is a theory part (where I talk about the immigration of Catalonia, the industries of Castelló, I have compared immigration nowadays with immigration in the 60s...)
-There is a practical part (where there are interviews).
-And finally, there is a conclusion (where I give my opinion of the Research Project).

METHODOLOGY

To fulfill my goals, I have to do this:

-First of all, I went to “La Farinera” to know the number of people who worked in the 50s in this industry.
-Secondlly, I went to the Town Hall records to know how many immigrants arrived in our village in these years.
-After, I found more information about industries of the town, more photos... also in the records.

To do my practical part I did interviews with catalan people (to know their reaction about immigration) and with immigrants to know how they lived in their village, how they lived here, why they left their birthplace...

PROBLEMS

I had some problems while I was doing my Research Project but I got over them.

One of them was the interviews, because there are people who have personal problems, there are others that are dead and there are people who don’t live in Castelló now, so at the begining of the project I only had one person to do the interview.
The solution was to find more people who wanted to do the interview.

And the other problem was to find information. I had problems with the milk industry and the rice fields because there wasn’t any information about them.
But finally, I found a book that talked about this.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I think that my project was interesting because I learnt a lot of new things about immigration, about industries of Castelló etc.
But, moreover because I think that I have fulfilled all of my goals, so I’m satisfied with my research project.

(REFLECTION)

I think that my oral presentation went well. Because I used a power point and I looked for some photos to show better to the class my topic and in the power point I included only specific words. The timing could have been better because I sumarize a lot that I wanted to say.

In my first presentation I was very nervous but now, in my second oral presentation, I were more relaxed.
I think that I looked at my audience and I make some movements that held the attention of my classmates.

The stucture of my presentation, was good in my opinion because everything was organized and the content was essential.
Maybe, the people in class weren’t interesed in immigration between 50s and 60s, but for me it’s an interesting topic to talk about.

In my opinion, the worst part was the conclusion, because I was so nervous
and I didn’t remember the words, so I read a little bit.

Finally, I think that my oral presentation was quite well.

I hope taht I’ll improve the next time.

Podcast ;)

At first, I didn’t know who I wanted to describe, but finally I decide to describe my boyfriend.

His name is Rodri and he’s 17 years old. He’s a tall strong boy.
He has dark curly hair, he has thick eyebrows, very beautiful big green eyes and long eyelashes which I would like to have and he also has full lips.

He is neither thin nor fat. Rodri has a scar on his arme because when he was younger he had an accident.
He’s got strong legs because since he was three years old he has been playing football.

Football is the sport that he loves, it’s his hobby. And the other hobby, I think, is to meet me and his friends, of course.

When a person meets my boyfriend for the first time, they normally think that he’s a little bigheaded, and two years ago, I thought this too. But when you talk to him you realixe that he’s very friendly and he always tries to help others.

He has good and bad points, of course, and if I have to chose the thing that I hate the most, probably it’s that when he doesn’t want to do something he’s so calm and lazy.
And the thing that I like the most is the way he treats me, he’s so loving!

Dialogue

Helen is talking to her best friend Kate about Mark, Kate’s boyfriend.
Helen thinks that Mark is bigheaded and he’s lying Kate all the time.

H. What’s wrong Kate?

K. Nothing...

H. Why are you crying?

K. Because Mark can’t meet me tonight and he always does the same... Sometimes I think that he doesn’t love me.

H. I told you Kate, and you wouldn’t hear me.

K. I know, but I love him and I want to find a solution.

H. Solution? What solution? Buf..

K. I don’t know yet, but I’ll fight for my relationship!

H. In my opinion, you have to talk with him about everything and give him an ultimatum. I hate this boy.

K. Helen! What do you expect? I won’t leave him, no matter what you say!

H. Well, well, well... My apologies for trying to help you. Bye!

K. Ok, bye!
